چکیده
Awareness, prevention of transmission, as well as fighting the stigma surrounding the disease, is an essential part of addressing the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa. Limited access to care, reluctance in the acceptability of care, appropriatenes of care, and inaffordability of care are among the barriers to HIV prevention. Different studies have been conducted by scholars on strategies to use in Africa. This paper indentifies selected African countries' strategies on HIV/AIDS awareness and fighting the stigma surrounding the disease. Bold decisions must be taken to exercise greater leadership in the governance of HIV/AIDS responses. Nurses have much to contribute to community-based efforts to promote societal and structural changes to reduce the HIV risk. This paper will further recommend strategies for Africa to avert from the HIV/AIDS stigma associated with this pandemic on the continent.
